The Total Solar Eclipse at 20°01′ of Leo belongs to the Saros 126 cycle and is a South Node eclipse.

The duration of the totality phase is 2 minutes and 18 seconds.

The eclipse will not be visible from our country (Greece). It will be visible in these regions

The first eclipse of the Saros 126 cycle occurred on 10 March 1179, at 26°01′ Pisces.

This eclipse is expected to unfold its effects mainly during the period January–April 2027, with emphasis on March 14–21, 2027, when the South Node passes over this particular degree, and as Mars activates this specific degree on the following dates: November 1–5 2026 and March 28 –April 5, 2027. It is also possible that the theme of the eclipse has already been activated and is known to us, or that it will bring old issues back to the surface.

The repetitions of the cycle unlock messages and themes related to the collective level of experience, but also on an individual level insofar as our natal chart is affected:

The recent eclipses of this particular cycle occurred in: May 1900, June 1918, June 1936, June 1954, July 1972, July 1990, August 2008. Think of these periods as potent markers of what is occuring and developing in this currrent time, under different circumstances.

The influence of an eclipse, as well as the events it manifests, belong to a theme, and an area of life, that have a cyclical nature and unfold over a broader period before and after the phenomenon, recurring roughly every ~19 years. Eclipses in fixed signs carry the theme of the need for stabilization, and for permanent or long-term changes, only this one shows it may require some adjustment later. More broadly, eclipses in the signs of Leo and Cancer are of vital and central importance in our lives, since they concern signs ruled by the Luminaries (Sun–Moon -life giving forces of creation), while the opposite pole is ruled by Saturn. Therefore, from 2026–2029, fundamental areas of our life will be affected, along with the way in which our perception of creativity, lifestyle, and reality is structured and organized.

This eclipse has a more personal feel for those born August 12, November 12 , May 12, February 12 (+/- 3 days), or those who have a prenatal or postnatal eclipse in this particular Saros cycle; also if there are natal placements of personal planets or points at these specific degrees (19–21 Leo, Aquarius, Scorpio, Taurus) and by antiscia at 09 degrees Taurus. According to the astrologer Bernadette Brady, the theme of this Saros cycle, “concerns itself with breaking out of a very negative situation where no hope can be seen to a more positive space containing many options. A worry that may have been affecting the person will suddenly clear. The solution is shown by the Cosmos and needs to be taken up without too much delay” (1).

What we observe in the current chart, is the need to distinguish true action from the need to do something simply because we want validation and attention, even through a promise or through generosity.

As the Sun is shadowed by the Moon, there is an emphasis on the Moon, which absorbs all the Sun’s light and casts its shadow onto Earth. Something ends, and along with it, a way of life, a role, a pattern of expression, which belongs to the conscious self. The revival of the past, as well as the value and stabilization of the familiar zone of life — of our personal history, is a central theme.

The emphasis on the element of Fire, and on the fixed and cardinal quality, shows us that the energy demands action, effort, a turn toward new things, together with a manifestation of ideas, concepts, and moral dilemmas. This is a creative combination, and it also seeks to bring closure to things, as well as points to how far to take things, where to resist where to let go (fixed). How our creativity, our notion of expansion, experiences, beliefs and knowledge, within a context of integration into the social fabric, networks, structures, alliances, friendships and assisting technology tools.

How much these have contributed to what we have created, but also how much they have hindered us or contributed to our development, our vision, knowledge, beliefs, support and enthusiasm, or opportunities.

The Jupiter–Pluto opposition brought to our awareness, and at full exposure on the Full Moon at the end of July (see for reference here), how things very personal dealt with larger forces, external pressures, involving creations, systems, and tested. Leo/Aquariusis mainly abotu the love we give and the love we receive. Of the love we give and the love we receive. We are at a pivotal point where we will need to accept, but also to see what we keep and what we let go of (the wealth) from the experiences we have gathered since 2020, mainly in referemce to Capricorn (the sign where the Jupiter/Pluto cycle began) — that is, achievement, result, structure, trial, responsibility, discipline and work. What, ultimately, is tangible and solid — materially, morally, and spiritually, to be able to continue to share. This opposition is part of the eclipse, and it shows us the way, in and out of relationships, friendships and collaborations, groups, causes and networks. A need therefore prevails for clarification, exchange, acceptance and reconciliation, but also for definition of purpose. Are we in the right place, community, social context, or system, with respect to our creativity, our identity, and the sense of accomplishment, and of the prospects of our way of life and creation. The emphasis on the element of Fire highlights the question of where the flame of our creativity — of our center — will continue to burn; where it can be expressed and focused, but also where it tends to be squandered, absorbed, or distorted by current external developments, or by standards and expectations, or notions of success in one’s environment. We may create stories around what is happening, what we have created, and with which we have identified — and then react to or act upon those stoies rather than upon reality.

The answer is given by Mars (north declination) and Pluto (south declination) in out-of-bounds positions, as well as by Uranus square the lunar Nodes (Leo/Aquarius), which emphatically “underline” that significant rearrangements are taking place in the firmament of the world. The system is overstimulated. Yet the subjective element, along with the need for experimentation, going against predetermined expectations, and habitual frameworks, can offer magical outlets for creativity, building new things, with and without others, and a kind of reaching out for different or optional activities and ways to respond, to find the necessary calm and rebalancing of priorities.

Therefore Mars’s energy will shout louder within and without (as the fighter-rebel) about what we need to protect and to strengthen (Cancer); Pluto’s energy will shout louder too, and will activate our psyche and psychology to heights and depths of experience — in relation to groups, deeper desires, and fields of research or study — in a very different and unpredictable way. And Uranus, the only planet in a mutable sign, confirms the celestial awakening and the wild card element of the eclipse, which on the one hand surprises and disrupts, and on the other brings innovation and pioneering acts, an awakening, that can build something important for the future — or take distance so as to approach new fields of experience, expression, reform, and the possibility of alternatives through importnt junctions and meetings with others. Through distance, detachment, but also through the assessment of what has come to pass, an awakening arises, and another way of becoming, or of continuing to be creative.

We will and have observed around us and within us quite a few dramatic, extreme and intense episodes and energies, indignation, violations, problems, upheaval, acute destructive natural forces, spontaneous reactions that will take us by surprise, a need for everything to become important or highly significant at any moment. Which things are or are not important will become clear later. The prompt is to ground ourselves (a lack of Earth in the chart), may show a lack of practical considerations and systems and structures failure or lack of reliability in the very ground we stand on, and on amaterial level. There maybe an overcompansating energy in relations to this too. We need to do something differently, to respond, reinforcing what moves us and what we believe in, in a mature and thoughtful way, and not simply for the sake of doing, or out of confusion, fanaticism and impressions (Mars square Neptune), (Venus opposition Neptune and contra-parallel Saturn). Relationships, feelings, desires, joy negotiate boundaries, romance, idealism and creativity, distance, estrangement, commitment and expectation. It is a complex condition with various manifestations that does not seem to say settle or hope for something. It however asks to see what and how we share in a simplified way, to give it time and time again, without “deadlines” and without grand promises. To adopt a simpler and ethical appoach to our attitudes, and to bring new ways of responding and of creativity into the relationships or into daily life. The same applies to collaborations: realism is required, and creativity, but also shared ethical codes. Relationships make a turn (cardinal), and whatever no longer has meaning or has exhausted its reserves, will become more apparent. Quite a few opportunities for contacts, and for creative interests and solutions, as shown by the Mercury sextiles to Venus and Uranus.

No planets in Earth, can be quite liberating from constraints, but may still lack realism or resources. In Earth signs we find Chiron (00–01 Taurus) and Juno at the anaretic degree of Capricorn, at the apex of a Yod formation with the South Node of the Moon in Leo, and Mars in Cancer together with Ceres/Demeter. Thus, the material domain suffers somwhat, as does our relationship with our values, the senses, the body. Emphasizing them more through Chrion and the asteroid of relationship, and this is very positive healing and a lovely creative direction in connection to how we form bonds. There is indeed a need for grounding which may find outlets into the past. We have a prompt to feed our interests, to move forward with matters of work and goals, not necessarily within predictable environments, but through relationships, and in intermediate or alternative spaces that have been tested in the past, with some adjustments or different way structuring commitment. Saturn makes a septile aspect with Uranus, and this activates an integration and perhaps a fated development, or hunch somewhere in the sphere of work, or brings a logic of reform to the way our work and ideas about reforms can change. This may apply to the structures of our life more generally.

It is an intensely warm, energetic and creative eclipse. The great emphasis on Fire pushes toward action, deed and creation, toward expression, but also towards quests and disagreements and a tendency for conflict. We are crossing a threshold, and we need to be observant, -something reminds us of the past yet everything is different.

Leo wants to leave its personal stamp. Identity, prestige, the leadership element, our creations, profession, self-confidence — these are tested, and we discover other sides of ourselves as well. This energy can give us courage, vitality and creative power, through paths that are closer to our heart, rather than the need for success or validation. This energy can also lead to insensitivity, competitiveness, clashes, a need for constant validation, a need to do in order to prove our worth, and this is where we lose. In the coming period we need to choose which action has real meaning, and what it contributes to.

The word “drama” comes from the ancient Greek “δρᾶμα,” from “δράω, δρω” to act/to do. Thus, one of the central themes of the eclipse is the relationship between drama and action.

Mars out-of-bounds in Cancer, conjunct Ceres and square Neptune, makes emotion one of the main engines of the period, and calls for improvisation. Mars is the only planet in a Water sign, and it is in a position where action is not easily separated from our intuition and our automatism. At the first degree. There is a fesh perspective on things. As an out-of-bounds planet until the end of August it can operate in extremes, less predictably, and with less willingness to confine itself to accepted and usual territotry. In Cancer, this energy is connected with protection, family, security, food, shelter, and the need to care for or defend something we consider weak or our own. We improvise on matters of where to invest energy, ways of responding, habits, work, strengthening the body and survival. We will be very preoccupied with our relationship to the harvest, the past, the provision and care of loved ones, or of the familiar zone of our life — of our habits as well as our history and past.

The conjunction with Ceres particularly reinforces the themes of food, care, provision and protection, guardianship, the relationship with the mother, or motherhood, and disagreements, conflicts, separations, or innovation in respect to these themes. It is a conjunction that combines care with sexuality; it may harbor indignation, or depression too, due to a lack of motivation. It can express the need to protect, but also anger and when we feel we are not protected, or when waht we need is not being provided to us. It can also bring to the surface conflicts and problems around food, water, production, distribution and access to resources within the home.

The square with Neptune can discharge tension, disperse energy; there may be leakage or violations in the waters, issues with the liquid element, but also violations of others’ internal and private matters. It also adds a significant difficulty: perhaps not everything is as it appears. Action may be based on fear, fantasy, guilt, idealization, or on a mistaken perception of the situation. There may be diffusion and scattering of energy, confusion about what we need to protect, or even a tendency to sacrifice ourselves or be swept along for something that ultimately is not what we thought.

That is why particular care is needed not to turn every impulse and emotion into action, and to avoid excessive reactions and pushing too hard.

The lack of Earth reminds us that creative energy needs ground, and the body needs grounding. With so much Fire and Air we can have many ideas, plans, enthusiasm, much to do and much movement, without always having the practical infrastructure, or the resources to support them, or they may not be available in some way or another. There may be great mobilization without clear direction, but there may be vision, as well as fanaticism. It is easy to start many things, to give a lot, and ultimately to become exhausted. We need to reckon with time, energy and realism. Not to squander energy without measure, not to push, but to make small, discreet efforts with clear motives and with clarity regarding ethics. To make a leap of faith and a turn, in the way we habitually respond to situations.

Information can change in unprecictable ways, and positive opportunities can unblock problems, Mercury sextile Uranus and Venus. Adaptability is therefore required, but also authenticity and humor in solving problems.

The paradox is that we may have a very great need to act and very little willingness to adapt. This can create conflicts when reality does not follow our original plan. Flexibility, is necessary.

Mars–Neptune is one of the reasons we need to avoid forced action. When we do not see clearly, more effort does not necessarily create a better result; it leads to dispersion, and to either overestimating or underestimating our powers to bring change. It may simply make us consume more energy. But inspiration may also come to us from other realms. This energy is very beneficial when we make gentler changes and efforts, and tend to things in discreet ways. Like deciding to write poetry, or music, to start a new hobby, cook a meal, take on a gentle exercise routine, a kind of diet or alternative therapy. We need to allow time so as to separate impulsive intuition from desire, real need from fear.

The same applies to plans, agreements, collaborations and information. We do not need to share plans before they take real shape, nor to easily trust promises that are not accompanied by solid information and an inner clarity.

Mars’s energy does not need to be channeled only into conflicts or achievements. It can feed a new way of coexisting, of making living and daily life, work even amid our differences, with each person bringing different tools so that we create something together.

Relationships need boundaries and less drama. Mars in Cancer can contribute to relationships in a more protective, more symbiotic, but also more defensive way. We need to be especially careful of the tendency to give more than we can truly give, or to think that care requires self-sacrifice. The square with Venus is separating; Venus also separates from the opposition with Neptune and from the trine with Uranus. The chaos and confusion subsides, but the way forward is not clear yet.

Independence, honesty and respect for boundaries are more useful than tension. More relaxed conditions are favored in romantic relationships. Possible relocations and changes of lifestyle, or a different approach to cohabitation and daily life with a bit of action, are likely scenarios.

On the collective level, power is connected with responsibility. The eclipse in Leo turns attention to leadership, authority, and the figures who stand at the center of the public stage. The Solar Eclipse symbolically overshadows the light of the Sun and brings to the surface the past, collective memory, but also the needs of people. Thus issues of political leadership, public image, prestige and legitimacy may have already intensified and will continue to do so, bas well as issues of responsibility, respect and integrity. Leaders, kings may come to the fore; their fame and prestige may be overshadowed; they may perhaps leave behind a legacy, or some significant people who left a creative or spiritual imprint may depart or make their transitions.

The Mars–Ceres conjunction and the square with Neptune add, on the collective level, issues of food, protection, benefits, resources and the management of needs. Confrontations may emerge around social benefits and allowances, the production and distribution of food, but also who has access to essential resources and who is responsible for protecting them. The same theme may express itself through issues of water, sea and oceans, marine areas, toxicity in seafood or other kinds of foods, and natural resources. Leaks of information, materials, resources or substances, and situations where something that should be protected or controlled passes into a space where it should not be. On a geopolitical level, issues may arise of violations or interventions in the internal affairs of other countries, of sea borders and threat sovereignty.

The deeper question remains: who holds the power, how do they use it, whom do they protect, and who takes responsibility for the consequences?

Energy is not lost with the emphasis on the South Node. It is distributed or channeled. Things, actions and people get lost, can waste energy or become absorbed.

Where all this energy is channeled is the most important thing. Something that once gave us strength may now demand more energy than it returns to us. This process does not mean that we stop creating or trying. It means that we need to decide what is still worth feeding.

The basic question of the eclipse is: what is still worth our energy? And where can it be used creatively for the future.

The eclipse is a South Node eclipse, and the planets move successively toward it. Thus a larger process of discharge, and of releasing it, is created, but it also helps us to genuinely close chapters and matters in life. Creativity, ambition, the need for recognition, the desire to act, to lead and to leave our imprint gradually pass through a point of reassessment.

Because the Sun and Moon relate to vitality, it is important to take care of the body. Especially for those whom the eclipse touches at significant points or planets, or if the eclipse falls in the 1st, 2nd, 6th, or 12th house.

From 2020 until today we have created, learned, lost, chosen and repeated a great deal. July’s Full Moon worked for some in a revelatory way, for others in a devastating way. The essence now is to weigh what we keep and what we let go of, for the next three years. The eclipse is not only about where we are going, but also about what we no longer wish to take with us. This is a super seed moment.

We recognize the patterns around us, and we set apart those that are required in order to devote ourselves with greater simplicity. Of all that has motivated us until today, and that we have created — what is truly worth continuing to feed and to work on, and where? What escaped our attention so far, and lost our connection to progress, to our pursuits, but also to the love we need to receive? In what way have we received it, and for what reasons, and how close is that to who we truly are?

The fire does not need to go out. It needs to find where it is worth burning.

I am referring to the fire that burns within us and drives us toward a mission, a work, a passion, a creation, and mobilizes us into action — both with others and without them.

If the body or self-confidence shows weaknesses or sensitivities, it is because it needs care; we have neglected something.

It is important to set down the weight of responsibility that does not belong to us, and to take up the responsibility that is ours, through actions and dynamism, but also with the integrity that the circumstances call for.

We may observe a change of lifestyle that will unfold over the coming 9–12 months, one that requires some structural changes, and a good relationship with our psyche. Pluto’s out-of-bounds gave us a foretaste in 2025, from August to November, and now with this eclipse, a second period begins from 12 August until the first half of December, once again giving this is a new experience, different circumstances. Our psyche shifts; we need to eliminate certain matters, to go deeper in what assists and what disempowers, and with the radical reorganization of complicated matters. The Saturn–Uranus septile shows us ways and other realities, attunes us to alternatives, so if you have planets at 12–14 degrees of Aries and 5–6 degrees of Gemini, it may speak to you; while Pluto’s out-of-bounds period may be laborious, but helps to connect with the source of one’s power or healing, will lead us to the next step.

The most creative use of this eclipse’s energy is not to do more, in order to restore something, or to chase goals. It is to see whether what we wish to restore is absolute core essential to us, and reposition it, in the right place. To choose consciously where our power will go and what contributes to a more balanced and authentic life, in practical, and creative ways.
